Cheshunt, a location where our Scottish Folk Band can playTowns, cities and regions have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune. Of Cheshunt, has been said:- " Cheshunt is the centre of adminstration for the Borough. The grounds and buildings of the Council Offices are of great interest for they centre around the former Churchgate House, an 18th century building close to the parish church in the oldest corner of Cheshunt. In 1791 Selina, Countess of Huntingdon, acquired the building and moved her theological college here, renaming the place Cheshunt College. In 1871 the college was rebuilt and in 1905, the buildings were bought by the Church of England who used them as a Bishops' college. In 1969 this college closed and the buildings, which have been extensively refurbished, now belong to Broxbourne Borough Council who lease part of them to the County Council as Registrar's offices. " The bagpipes—they are screaming and they are sorrowful. ~There is a wail in their merriment, and cruelty in their triumph. ~ They rise and fall like a weight swung in the air at the end of a string. ~ Hugh MacDiarmid CLICK HERE [Scottish Folk Bands in Cheshunt for your wedding] [About Scottish Folk Bands] [Ensembles in Cheshunt wedding music repertoire] [About Cheshunt] [About music in Cheshunt] [About Wedding Venues] [About Wedding Ceremonies registrars, ministers and music] [About other kinds of music such as jazz or folk] [Frequently Asked Questions FAQs] [Ensembles1] [Ensembles2] [Ensembles3] [Ensembles4] [Links] [Home Page] | | |
