Leicestershire, a location where our Scottish Folk Band can playTowns, cities and regions have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune. Of Leicestershire, has been said:- " Leicestershire, part of the North Midlands, is a county of surprisingly varied landscape. Charnwood Forest is a wild jumble of crags, rocky outcrops, open heath land and undulating ridges. There is an untamed desolation to the scenery of this once densely wooded area. The area provides fascinating and dramatic walking amongst the ancient pre-Cambrian granite outcrops and remaining oak woods. There are fine views from the tops of Beacon Hill and Bardon Hill. However, Charnwood Forest is not typical of Leicestershire's countryside. It is mostly undulating rich green grazing land on a clay soil, particularly in southern Leicestershire between Leicester and Market Harborough " Never having thought of writing for the guitar, I asked Julian [Bream] for a chart which would explain what the guitar could do. I managed to write some rather pretty pieces for him, except that the first six notes of the first piece all need to be played on open strings. So when he begins to play, the audience will probably think he’s tuning the bloody thing up. ~ Walton CLICK HERE [Scottish Folk Bands in Leicestershire for your wedding] [About Scottish Folk Bands] [Ensembles in Leicestershire wedding music repertoire] [About Leicestershire] [About music in Leicestershire] [About Wedding Venues] [About Wedding Ceremonies registrars, ministers and music] [About other kinds of music such as jazz or folk] [Frequently Asked Questions FAQs] [Ensembles1] [Ensembles2] [Ensembles3] [Ensembles4] [Links] [Home Page] | | |
